EGGER Floor Products

Rapid growth demands that production capacities be increased and state-of-the-art technology deployed

07.08.2006

The success story called EGGER Floor Products, which started 10 years ago with a modest 3 million m², continues.

In summer 2006, capacity at the Wismar plant (in Germany) was increased by 10 million m². In future, laminate flooring in special formats will be produced here. In Brilon (also in Germany), a completely new laminate flooring factory is being built; this will start production before the end of 2006. When this final extension phase is complete, capacity will increase by another 30 million m². But that’s not all: a new technology will be introduced in Brilon: “Direct Print” onto the HDF (high density fibreboard) substrate material.
Production capacity is being increased in stages from its current level of 60 million m² to 80 million m² per annum.

EGGER DIY Products and EGGER Floor Products have been combined in the EGGER Retail division
2006 has also seen some organisational changes: At the start of the new financial year on
1st May the activities of the previously independent companies EGGER Floor Products and EGGER DIY Products (E.D.P.) will be combined. The clear separation of ranges for the different sales channels – wholesalers, fabricators and architects on the one hand, DIY markets on the other – remains firmly in place.

New Direct Print technology in Brilon
From the end of 2006 a new generation of laminate flooring will be in production in Brilon. These products will complement the range of floors produced by conventional processes. The experience in using water-based and UV-based lacquer for direct printing that EGGER has gained over the years at its Marienmünster plant will be put to good use. A 360 metre-long liquid coating machine will be installed that will allow environmentally friendly direct printing onto the HDF carrier material. Printing the decor directly onto the HDF means that decorative papers are no longer required, simplifying both production and logistic processes.
The production process called "Direct Print" (DPR) by EGGER means reproducibility and excellent print quality. The products created in this way meet the high demands laid down in laminate flooring standards.
The revolutionary process makes the decors astonishingly effective. Most importantly, an improvement in terms of look and feel is achieved in that the surface has a warmer feel and is "more velvety" to the touch. The customer is thus offered distinct additional benefits.
The final production phase of the floor boards will be carried out on two high-performance profiling lines, one of which is already installed Using the most up-to-date technology also guarantees the highest processing precision at these performance levels.
